What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a form of training where individuals learn a skilled trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. It involves working under the guidance of experienced professionals in a specific field to gain practical experience while also attending related technical classes to acquire theoretical knowledge.
Cape May Tech offers related technical classes that can help earn the status of NJ Master Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Contractor. Students in this program must take a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year for four years, totaling 576 hours of classroom instruction. In addition, students must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training,
How can I qualify?
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Prospective students should be employed full-time in the field, and their employer or union must be willing to sponsor them.
If they don't yet have a full-time employer, Cape May Tech can help find an employer to sponsor them. Students can begin the related technical classes while looking for employment.
Tuition is $3,500/year
