2023 - 2024 Annual AHERA Notification

To: All Cape May County Technical School Parents, Guardians, Staff and Students.
From: Charles Yahara, CEFM, AHERA Program Manager.
The following activities have taken place during the past year in fulfilling the Cape May County Technical High School requirements under AHERA 40 CFR 763.
- An AHERA 3-Year Re-inspection and full program audit was performed in October of 2022.
- An AHERA 6-Month Periodic Surveillance inspection was performed in April of 2023.
- AHERA 6-Month Periodic Surveillance inspections are scheduled for October of 2023and April of 2024.
- Asbestos containing floor tile and mastic were removed during December of 2022 and June of 2023.
- The district is not currently planning to remove any asbestos containing materials during the 2023 - 2024 school year.
- No repair of damaged asbestos containing materials was performed during the above period.
- No minor or major fiber release episodes were recorded during the above time period.

To: All building occupants

In accordance with the requirement of the NJ Indoor Air Quatity Standard, you are hereby notified that non-friable asbestos removal will take place at the Cape May Technical High School June 15-21, 2024.
Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to school staff and maintain safety for all occupants during the project. These steps will include restricting access to the removal areas and hallways near the work areas, as well as the collection of air samples to assure acceptable air quality white work is occurring.
Asbestos floor tile and mastic will be removed from the following locations:
- Room 132B
- Room 116A(D)
- Room 104
- Old Gas Station / Grounds Shop
- This separate, outside building location, may begin on Friday, June 14th.

In accordance with the requirement of the NJ Indoor Air Quality Standard, you are hereby notified that non-friable asbestos removal will take place at the Cape May Technical High School from December 12, 2022 through December 30, 2022.
Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions in hallways and adjoining areas to maintain safety of all staff and students during the project. These steps will include restricting access to the removal areas and the collection of air samples to assure acceptable air quality while work is occurring.
Floor Tiles will be removed from the following locations:
- Classroom 332
- Hotel/Hospitality (Room 339)
- Culinary Arts Closets (Room 338)
- Media Center (Room 336)
