Carpentry & Property Mgmt.
In the Carpentry & Property Management program, students will learn the skills required to build and repair residential structures with a focus on new construction materials, techniques, construction codes, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, masonry and carpentry. This program is articulated with the Northeast Carpenters Apprenticeship (United Brotherhood of Carpenters). By the end, students will have OSHA 10 certification and be granted advanced standing to receive an interview with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Apprenticeship program (pending competency in Career Connection Certificates). Additionally, this program partners with various community groups to provide service driven career exploration opportunities within the region.
Students Will
- Have the opportunity to learn and earn OSHA 10 and Career Connection certifications.
- Apply knowledge and skills to layout, cut, fabricate, frame, install and repair wooden structures and fixtures.
- Receive instruction in technical mathematics and learn about basic residential writing & principles of masonry.
- Receive hands-on experience with hand and power tools, lumber and stone, and a CNC machine in a work environment best to replicate an active job site.
- Be exposed to various opportunities post-graduation such as the union and various trade schools.
- Utilize hands-on opportunities to include not only theory but also practical application and laboratory work.
- Prepare for direct entry into the workforce or a technical school to further studies within the career cluster.
- Explore a wide range of job opportunities through internships, field trips, and other interactions with professionals within the industry.
