Computer & Information Tech
Computer Technology teaches information age technologies and critical thinking to solve problems using those technologies. As a student progresses through each year, they have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to successfully pursue a career in the Information Technology field in the technical discipline they choose. Computer Technology teaches information technologies and critical thinking to create solutions using those technologies. It provides students with a foundation for college study, not only in computer science but in a wide variety of disciplines. Students will learn to maintain a safe work environment and to build interpersonal skills needed for working in the IT field. The course provides a detailed understanding of computers, network administration, software development, web programming, relational database programming, robotics, as well as Python Programming.
Students Will
- Learn Python, C++, App Inventor, and Java Programming to then develop games, programs and websites.
- Explore networking and PC support, specifically network topologies and applications.
- Explore a wide range of job opportunities through internships, field trips, and other interactions with industry professionals.
- Prepare for direct entry into the workforce or postsecondary education to further studies.
- Receive dual credit for multiple courses from postsecondary institutions.
