Curriculum

Cape May Tech’s success relies strongly on ties to the business community; advisory board members are essential consultants, assisting staff in developing curriculum that reflects current industry standards and future trends. Their input allows Cape May Tech to maintain state of the art facilities and provide students with relevant, high value education. Cape May Tech is committed to providing a robust academic curriculum that is fully aligned with the most current New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Through utilization of research based best practices, academic programs ensure students are not only masters of their trade, but also critical thinkers and effective communicators. This dual focus prepares Cape Tech graduates for success in competitive four or two year universities and/or high level technical careers. See the following information regarding Career & Technical Programs and academic course flow charts.
To support students, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) are used to ensure every student has what they need to succeed. MTSS looks at the "whole student" combining academic help with support for behavioral and social-emotional well-being. Cape May Tech monitors three main areas for MTSS: Academics, Attendance, and Behavior. Data from quarterly benchmarks in ELA and Math, along with other progress data, are used to identify students who might need extra help. MTSS success coordinators meet regularly in specialized subgroups to create specific goals and use proven, research-based strategies to help students thrive.
Additionally, Cape May Tech provides the tools for students to stay on track. Most weeks, dedicated support sessions from Tuesday through Thursday are offered where a bus ride home is available for participants. Programs are designed for academic tutoring, dedicated work labs, and credit completion. Students are encouraged to sign up for participation via their student portal.
Cape May Tech is proud to participate in the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy program, which honors students who have mastered English and another language by the time they graduate. This award does more than just look great on a diploma; it rewards the hard work students put into understanding other cultures and languages. Whether students are native speakers or a dedicated language learner, the Seal of Biliteracy highlights a student’s ability to thrive in a global society and provides a head start for students and their future career or college journey. Cape May Tech offers Seal of Biliteracy testing twice a year (winter and spring). Interested students are directed to fill out the interest survey sent annually. Cape May Tech uses the Avant STAMP 4S test.
