Communication Arts
In the Communication Arts Technology program, students will learn about television and film production, journalism, TV and radio broadcasting, audio techniques, and graphics. Additionally, students will acquire skills in computer animation, special effects, still photography, and audio production. Through the weekly CAT-TV broadcast, students get hands-on experience with TV system work, specifically in scriptwriting, performance, stagecraft, digital media production, cable TV, computer programming and systems analysis. By the end of this program, students will have successfully attained the Adobe Certified Associate credential in the Adobe Premiere Pro CC video editing software (pending exam results).
Students Will
- Create a weekly CAT-TV broadcast.
- Learn the principles of studio production for crew, reporters and news anchors.
- Work on activities that focus in electronic field production (EFP) and electronic news gathering (ENG) with camera operations
- Prepare for direct entry into the workforce or postsecondary education to further studies within the career cluster.
- Participate in activities in a state of the art facility and have access to various technologies aligned with the curriculum.
- Receive dual credit from post-secondary institutions.
- Explore a wide range of job opportunities through internships, field trips, and other interactions with professionals within the industry.
