Marine Maintenance
The program utilizes modern engine technology and test equipment to help enhance skills in the theory, maintenance, and troubleshooting of outboard and inboard marine engines. Students will develop a working knowledge of marine systems such as electrical, mechanical, cooling, fuel, boat design and construction, and trailer maintenance. The program has access to waterfront facilities, where students will operate and maintain vessels. This program is partnered with Yamaha Motor Sports as well as the Delaware River Bay Authority (DRBA). Upon satisfactory completion of this program, the student will gain 3 credentials within Yamaha Service Skills Training (Intro to Outboard Systems, Introduction to Jet Propulsion, and Maintenance Technician). Further, upon completion of this course, students will have successfully attained a TWIC card and a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) for direct employment with the Cape May Lewes Ferry. Within this program, over three years, students will gain “sea time” towards the 360-hour requirement. Upon completion of this program, students will also be OSHA 10 certified.
